Andrew Perlmutter Named CEO Of NBA 2K League

This week, the NBA 2K League announced Andrew Perlmutter as the organization’s first ever Chief Executive Officer. Well-versed in entertainment and technology, he brings a breadth of experience to a market ripe with the potential for growth. ITRenew Inc. veteran Perlmutter is seen as an ideal candidate to guide the organization amidst an rapidly expanding industry. Additionally, Brendan Donohue, NBA 2K League president since 2017, stepped down. During his six-year tenure the companies number of teams grew from 17 to 25 and international franchises in Mexico, China, and Australia, were introduced.

Commissioned by NBA President of Global Partnerships and member of the NBA 2K League Board of Directors, Salvatore LaRocca, Perlmutter expressed his excitement to join a rapidly advancing community. “The NBA 2K League is a leader in the esports industry and has so much potential for growth given the extraordinary potential of the NBA 2K franchise. I am thrilled to join this incredible organization and apply my knowledge to help grow our success.”

Meanwhile, Donohue addressed his accomplishments, and commented on future ambitions saying “I’m honored to have been the person to leading the establishment of the 2K League. It has been such a pleasure to work hand-in-hand with so many passionate individuals, players, fans, and try to promote something I really believe in. I certainly look forward to new opportunities and the potential future of true esport potential!” Donohue will advise during the league’s leadership transition period through the 31th of October.
