After 6 Years and Countless Disruptions, Pravjit Tiwana Leaves Gemini
This month marks the departure of Pravjit Tiwana from Gemini Trust Co. having served as the company’s global chief technology officer and chief executive officer for its business in Asia. Prior to joining Gemini in January 2021, Tiwana spent more than six years as a general manager at Amazon Web Services. During his time with the company, he worked towards establishing a culture that resembled Amazon’s and become responsible for its product, engineering, and design operations and India operations.
However, amidst a regulatory and legal scrutiny amid a public dispute between Gemini, the digital lender Genesis, Digital Currency Group, and its respective founders, Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, and Barry Silbert, Tiwana ultimately ends his legacy with the company.
Concerning some of these legal issues, last year, the US Securities and Exchange Commission v. Gemini raised an allegation related to the partnership between Gemini and Genesis known as the Earn Program. Although Winklevoss dismissed the allegation as a ‘manufactured parking ticket,’ Gemini and the Digital Currency Group got sued lately for defrauding patrons of about $1.1 billion supported Nov of 2021. getting sued, Digital Currency Group expressed it stirring it would actively challenge this allegation, whereas Gemini wrongfully expressed their corresponding disagreement with suing them.
