Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders warns two Arkansas companies may be violating China-land-owning ban

Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders said a Department of Agriculture probe revealed ties between two Arkansas companies and China, potentially in violation of state law. The Arkansas governor mentioned Risever Machinery LLC in Craighead County and Jones Digital LLC in DeWitt as the firms involved in the inquiry.

According to Sanders, the possible connection with China contravenes Act 636, which prohibits foreign-controlled companies from purchasing or exploiting Arkansas land. Alarmed by the allegations, the state’s top official wrote letters to Attorney General Tim Griffin asking for additional investigations and prospective legal action. The letter follows Griffin fining Syngenta Seeds $280,000 – their staying permission to dispose of Arkansas land on Sanders’s directive.
