Vast swaths of Hong Kong’s economy were shuttered in 2022 yet have rebounded greatly. With private household spending in the second quarter increasing by 8.5 percent, the economy is healing after a tumultuous 2020. Finance Secretary Paul Chan expressed optimistic outlook that Hong Kong’s gains will improve heading into the rest of the year, driven in part by private performances and by strong growth in inbound tourism.
