Jonathan Goldsmith, the actor fame for namedropping Dos Equis and its “most interesting man in the world” commercials, switched gears to join the future with a short cryptocurrency ad for the financial firm Bitwise.
“You know what’s interesting these days?” said Goldsmith in the commercial. “Bitcoin.”
While behemoth Wall Street players like Fidelity and BlackRock await approval by the SEC to offer clients spot bitcoin ETFs, Bitwise produced their own version in the form of crypto-based futures-based ETFs. Concluding the ad was an ode to their crypto-specializing abilities, as displayed by the parting phrase: “ETFs backed by crypto specialists.”
The Bitwise crypto ad, revealed on X on Monday, could be only a snippet of an even larger crypto wave. According to a newsletter sent by investor Anthony Pompliano on December 13, the signs point to “the greatest marketing blitz in finance broken,” ravaging towards January 2024. “Asset managers,” estimates Pompliano, “will collectively spot out at least $100 million or more in an effort to attract investors to their ETFs.
“TV commercials, Super Bowl adds, full page takeovers from newspapers, an explosive content blast on social media, and an onslaught of billboards – they’ll all make an appearancesince when regulators finally do offer the greenlight for a crypto spot ETF,” adds Pompliano.
