On Saturday, businessman and GOP presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy rocked the 2023 Iowa State Fair fireside chat in Des Moines, creating a wave of exciting vibes with his unique move – during a roughly 25-minute interview with Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, after signing hats and other items, Ramaswamy began singing Eminem’s classic “Lose Yourself”, quickly sparking the attention of many fairgoers and was seen to “hammer out the lyrics smart”.
The impromptu jam session soon spread like wildfire across social media and commentators seemed to have polarizing views;while X wrote “He’s the man”, another felt the show “was totally cringe, but it’s getting him attention, which is undoubtedly what he was hoping for” – including a certain user pointing out “If he was literally freestyling his own stuff instead of Eminem I’d find it less cringe”.
Ramaswamy elaborated later to the press the characteristics of Eminem’s story that spoke to him, amounting to a sense of ambition to persevere against any oppositions he may face to fulfill his aspirations such as growing up in simplicity to make it big – Justifying the rooting sentiment between the presidential hopeful himself and the rap artist, known for his struggles prior to success and various other common story lines.
